What's In the New Lithium Battery Test Summary Document?
Starting January 1, 2020, manufacturers and distributors of lithium cells and batteries (and equipment powered by lithium cells or batteries) must make available a lithium battery testing summary that provides critical safety information about their batteries to downstream shippers and consumers.

E-Manifests and 49 CFR: Paper Copies Still Required
One of the benefits of the e-manifest system is that we no longer need physical hard copies of manifests to accompany hazardous waste shipments. But just because EPA is fine with no paper copy, the same is not true for the Department of Transportation (DOT).

DTSC's Plan to Adopt RCRA Hazardous Waste Generator Improvements
California has unveiled a plan to adopt provisions from EPA’s 2016 Generator Improvements Rule into the state’s Title 22 hazardous waste regulations. The major EPA rulemaking overhauled the Federal hazardous waste management requirements, adding more stringent provisions as well as new reliefs for generators.

RCRA Update: Where is the Generator Improvements Rule in Effect Now?
When EPA creates new rules that are more stringent than previous regulations, as is the case with many of the updates in the landmark 2016 Generator Improvements Rule, all states must adopt the more-stringent provisions in order to maintain authorization to run their state program.

EPA Unveils New Prohibitions for Methylene Chloride
The Environmental Protection Agency promulgated a Final Rule on March 27, 2019 to prohibit the manufacture (including import), processing, and distribution in commerce of methylene chloride for consumer paint and coating removal, including distribution to and by retailers.
