Persistent "Forever Chemicals" Lead to $27M Settlement

After settling for $27 million, the amount recovered by the class-action suit is now over $90 million. If approved by the judge, the agreement would bring the total amount given to residents to about $41 million.

EPA Will Keep Restrictions PFOA, PFOS in Drinking Water and Eliminate Other PFAS Limits

Update: EPA has announced that limits for PFOA and PFOS in drinking water will remain in place, while maximum contaminant levels for three other per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) will be rescinded for reconsideration.

TSCA PFAS Report Start Date Moved to January 2026

EPA is correcting an error in the TSCA regulations and pushing back the submission period for manufacturers and/or importers of PFAS to submit chemical data required by an October 2023 Final Rule.

Final Rule: PFOA, PFOS Listed as Superfund Substances

Update 05/08/24: Effective July 8, 2024, the substances PFOA and PFOS are listed as hazardous substances under CERCLA, each with a reportable quantity (RQ) of 1 pound.

New TSCA Rule Keeps Inactive PFAS Inactive

More than three hundred per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) not currently made or used in the US, i.e., “inactive PFAS,” may not be manufactured or processed in the future unless EPA completes a full risk review and determination first.

US EPA proposed establishing enforceable drinking water standards for six per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) today, March 29, 2023. Stakeholders and the public can submit comments until May 30, 2023.

TSCA New Use Rule for 330 Inactive PFAS Proposed

Under a rule proposed last week, notification to US EPA would be required before manufacturing, importing, or processing for any use any of the 330 PFAS chemicals designated as Inactive on the TSCA Inventory.
