Gas Company Pays $10M to Resolve NJ Superfund Site Claims
An industrial gas company is set to pay $10 million to settle Superfund claims at a contaminated industrial site in Linden, NJ. The consent decree, filed in Federal court on October 28, outlines how the funds will be used to clean the LCP Superfund site and recoup response costs already incurred by EPA.

TCEQ Plans to Increase Environmental Penalties for 2021
TCEQ announced proposed significant increases to its penalty policy for environmental and hazardous waste violations in Texas. The TCEQ Penalty Policy provides a framework for the Agency to calculate fines and penalties for entities that violate State environmental and/or hazardous waste regulations.

Who Will Pay for the Next 20 TSCA Risk Evaluations?
EPA released its interim final list of businesses subject to fees for the 20 high-priority substances undergoing TSCA risk evaluations. Companies that use chemical(s) undergoing a risk evaluation must report if they manufacture or import those chemicals and will then be subject to a portion of the TSCA fee.

Lysol Products Are the First EPA-Approved Surface Disinfectants for COVID-19
Earlier this month, EPA approved two Lysol brand disinfecting sprays as the first products tested to effectively destroy SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19, on hard, non-porous surfaces. This paves the way for more disinfectants to be approved in the future.
