New Lithium Battery Air Rules Start Friday, 4/1

Changes to the requirements for shipping lithium batteries have come fast and furious in 2016, especially for air shippers. By the end of this week, on April 1, 2016, major changes will take effect for shipping lithium batteries under the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) 57th Edition Dangerous Good Regulations (DGR).

IATA Posts Addendum I to 57th Edition DGR

The 57^th edition IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) has been in effect for hazmat air shippers since January 1, 2016. On January 16, IATA posted its first Addendum to the 57^th edition to revise and clarify the DGR manual. The Addendum includes major changes for lithium battery shippers.
