New DOT Lithium Battery Rules Near Final Stage
The new DOT lithium batteries rule closely mirrors requirements finalized at the international level by ICAO earlier this year and mandatory for air shippers as of April 1, 2016.
The new DOT lithium battery Interim Final Rule will:
- Prohibit the transport of standalone lithium ion cells and batteries as cargo on passenger aircraft.
- Limit the state-of-charge for lithium ion cells and batteries to 30%.
- Limit to no more than one package per shipment the number of packages that may be offered for current provisions for “small” or “excepted” lithium batteries.

Amazing instructor; real-life examples. Lion training gets better every year!
Having the tutorial buttons for additional information was extremely beneficial.
The instructor was very engaging and helped less experienced people understand the concepts.
The instructor was probably the best I ever had! He made the class enjoyable, was humorous at times, and very knowledgeable.

I attended training from another provider and learned absolutely nothing. Lion is much better. Hands down.
The instructor clearly enjoys his job and transmits that enthusiasm. He made a dry subject very interesting and fun.
Very well structured, comprehensive, and comparable to live training seminars I've participated in previously. I will recommend the online course to other colleagues with training requirement needs.
Our instructor was very dynamic and kept everyone's interest. Hazmat shipping can be a dry, complicated topic but I was engaged the entire time.

Lion is my preferred trainer for hazmat and DOT.
