Now in Effect: New OSHA Crystalline Silica Construction Standard
OSHA’s revised Standard for respirable crystalline silica in the construction sector took effect on September 23, 2017. OSHA updated its permissible exposure limits (PELs) for crystalline silica, found at 29 CFR 1926.1153, in a Final Rule promulgated in March 2016.9/28/2017
NYC Enacts New Worker Safety Training Requirements for Construction Sector
The New York City Council enacted legislation this week to bolster the construction safety training requirements for permitted building and demolition projects in the city. The bill, called “Intro 1447” for short, revises Section 3321 of the NYC building code to add the new training requirements and details about the new Site Safety Training Card (SST Card) program.
