Airlines Crack Down on Lithium Battery Powered Luggage
Frequent flyers take note! Delta and American Airlines made announcements last week that you should be aware of. These airlines will no longer allow passengers to check “smart baggage” with non-removable lithium batteries. OSHA Gives Employers 2 More Weeks to Submit Injury and Illness Data
OSHA this month announced an additional two week extension for employers who must electronically submit injury and illness data under the new “Improved Tracking of Workplace Injuries and Illnesses” rule finalized in May 2016.11/27/2017

EPA and Army Push Back "Waters of the US" Applicability by 2 Years
US EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers have proposed adding an applicability date to the much-debated 2015 Waters of the United States (WOTUS) Final Rule. The Final Rule, still stayed nationwide by court order and now under consideration by the Supreme Court, expanded the scope of the Clean Water Act to address discharges to bodies of water not previously covered.11/21/2017
PHMSA Proposes Terminating M- and R-Hazmat Packaging Approvals
In the Federal Register this week, PHMSA proposed to terminate approvals issued to packaging manufacturers and reconditioners, known as M- or R-numbers. The M- and R-numbers eliminated will be those PHMSA issued without an expiration date.11/21/2017

7 Hoverboard Brands Issue Recalls Over Lithium Batteries
The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced recalls of 7 brands of lithium-ion battery powered “hoverboards” or self-balancing scooters this week. The recall impacts about 15,000 hoverboards, which CPSC says can pose a smoke, fire, or explosion hazard due to the potential for lithium-ion battery packs in the devices to overheat.Find a Post
