New Hazmat Limited Quantity Exception Effective Feb. 22
In January, US DOT gave hazmat shippers more flexibility by incorporating 96 hazmat special permits into the text of the Hazardous Materials Regualtions (HMR). In doing so, it allowed all hazmat shippers to capitalize on exceptions and reliefs previously reserved for those approved to use these special permits.

Shipping Limited Quantity Domestic vs. International
When shipped by ground, air, or ocean, a number of common household items are regulated as hazmat by the US Department of Transportation. Because they are common and largely low-risk materials, many household cleaners, medicines, and cosmetics are afforded certain reliefs when packaged as a limited quantity.
