A nonprofit watchdog group released a report that shows elevated benzene levels at 10 oil refineries throughout the US. While this is not illegal, EPA regulations require the refineries to investigate the cause of elevated emissions and take steps to reduce them.

While there is no specific OSHA standard that prohibits headphones on a job site, workers listening to music can create a safety hazard. If the employee’s music masks sounds like alarms, moving equipment, machinery, traffic, danger signals, or verbal warnings, the results could be tragic.

OSHA Fines NJ Landscaper $17K After Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Deaths
A landscaping company based in Cresskill, NJ has been fined $17,051 for allegedly exposing its employees to the hazards of carbon monoxide (CO) without the proper safety training, resulting in the deaths of two of its workers.
