Caught on Tape: Lithium Battery Fire Destroys 23 E-Bikes in Spain
As energy storage technology improves, so will the ferocity with which lithium batteries can potentially ignite or “explode.” For safety professionals, this means that training on safe lithium battery handling procedures may be a smart addition to any workplace safety program—and may even be required under OSHA’s General Duty Clause.

Update: EPA to Ban Methylene Chloride in Consumer Paint Removers
Update March 18, 2019: Last week, EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler signed a Final Rule to prohibit the manufacture (including import), processing, and distribution of methylene chloride in all paint removers for consumer use.

New Jersey DEP Takes Action on Sussex County Dump Site
Thousands of waste deliveries over almost a decade have resulted in a 75-foot pile of dirt, plastic, rebar, concrete, piping, asphalt, and other debris in Vernon Township, NJ. Township residents allege that this dumping operation resulted in water contamination to neighboring wells.
